Tamworth Realistic Family Photography -Emily & Campbell

Emily & Campbell Realistic photoshoot at home.

A few weeks back whilst in Australia I received message from Emily asking for a shoot. She seen I was back from Cambodia & knew she wanted a family shoot.

I met Emily & Campbell years ago when they were just engaged. They came to Uralla for a shoot & from that time I have photographed them & two of their newborn babies. I then left for Cambodia. Since that time they had 2 more gorgeous kids.
When Emily called me she said no more new babies but she wanted to capture the realities of having a family of 4 as well as capturing the kids in the home, all her children came home to after being born.
Emily & Campbell’s home is near Dungowan that has a hilltop view that overlooks a spectacular valley. It also has amazing sunsets from up there.
Following a crazy shoot in mum & dads bed which is what most families do on a lazy Sunday, down the stairs on the realities of trying to get everyone out the door but never on time, we headed out to the top of hills to also capture what living in the country with kids is like.

Designer clothes – That showed them as a family

When we ventured outside Emily & her family were dressed in Robyn Ru- Spunky Bruiser
I just adored catching up with Emily & Campbell again but also seeing how her kids have grown & their individual personalities.
Thanks again. I do hope we catchup again!

The Graze Willow Tree Weddings -Simon & Gemma

Just over a week ago I had my last wedding before returning to Cambodia. Gemma & Simon’s at “The Graze Willow” tree.
I have done a few weddings at this amazing location. Every time I photograph here I am always so excited. This place has it all,  a gorgeous garden for your ceremony, onsite stunning accomadation, incredible food & service & spectacular locations within a few minutes for photographs.
I have known Gemma for a few years now so when she messaged to book in her wedding to Simon I was so excited. Gemma said one of the most important things for their day is the photography.
So when I went back to Australia we met to get the best photography times & locations possible.
Due to Gemma & Simon having their wedding in daylight savings many couples miss the perfect sunset or the best light of the day because their reception starts when the sunlight, sunset is at its best for location, & bridal photography.
We decided to change this a little with Gemma & Simon spending time with their guests for around 40 minutes after family portraits, then heading off with their bridal party for location pictures.

Gemma & Simon wanted to go to their property not far from Willow Tree, which was not only sentimental but just so perfect. So many little spots within a few metres. Then on the way into town we were able to catch the perfect sunset. One of my favourite shots below is on the driveway of Simon & Gemma’s place. I was racing off to the next location when I seen this incredible light & dust made by my car.

So I pulled over &  waited for the bridal party to come. This is what I love about weddings, stopping the couple when you see amazing light & capturing incredible moments such as these. I am also grateful to Gemma & Simon for trusting me & my crazy ideas to get shots like this.

Simon & Gemma had the most relaxed, hilarious cocktail reception with great speeches, a great wrap done by Gemma’s bridesmaids & amazing food by “The graze”

Also a huge thanks to my good friend & assistant Mel. It was so lovely to work together & catchup again. You always make my day so fun, so easy when we work together!!

Thanks Gemma & Simon for letting me be part of this incredible day!! I loved it so, so much!

Tamworth Newborn/family photography -Ben & Holly, Alfie & Huxley

I’ve known Holly & Ben since they were married nearly five years ago in The hunter Valley. Since then we have kept in contact & have been one of my favourite families to photograph. Since their wedding they have had two gorgeous boys, Alfie & Huxley.
Huxley was born in February so when Huxley was 5 weeks we organised a  newborn shoot.

So many photographers say newborn shoots have to happen in their first 3 weeks. I tend to disagree with this with the style of my newborn photography shoots. Bub is always fully clothed, wrapped & warm. So if bub isn’t sleepy they are usually content & not crying. If bub is a few weeks older they usually have a little more head strength too. So my newborn shoots are always less stressful & mum & dad are also less stressed. Yes most of the time my newborn shoots are outside with natural light & I just simply love it! As you will see by this shoot.
I just love catching up with my families to capture their memories & big milestones in their life.
Ben & Holly live out towards Duri on their family farm which is the perfect backdrop for a shoot. Sentimental & amazing shoots. Despite being in one of the worse droughts, bare paddocks looked amazing in the photos.
That day we had a cracker of a sunset which you will see below. The kids had enough by that stage but I stuck around to just watch the amazing sunset.
Can’t wait to photograph the boys together when their running around together.
Loved catching up with you both xx

Hunter Valley Wedding photography, Blackhill, NSW – Kieren & Stacey

Saturday I travelled to the picturesque Hunter Valley to the suburb of Black Hill for Kieren (KK) & Stacey’s wedding at KK’s brother, Storm and Nat, my twin sisters lovely home.

Stacey decided to match the environment with Native flowers. With a photographers creative touch, I designed my first wedding bouquet and button holes for the family…A bit different to a regular day in the life of a photographer! After some much needed rain overnight, the clouds disappeared to reveal a glorious sunny day.

KK and Stacey wanted their ceremony to be followed by a relaxed cocktail reception, all at the one location. Nat & Storm’s home is on a few acres, overlooking a gorgeous dam with a great spot for a marquee and fit the bill perfectly. Local friends helped out with photo locations, making the day silky smooth.

The bridal party were such a big help to KK & Stacey and made the photo shoot hilarious & memorable. Thanks guys so much! It was so much FUN!

A highlight of the day was Stacey’s son Ethan entertaining the crowd with an impromptu rendition of “Happy” picking up the microphone while Stacey and KK were signing the register. Ethan sang while the guests clapped, totally impromptu, totally adorable.

KK & Stacey also wanted lots of photos of their guests having a great time. Being a twin of one of the bridesmaids meant I was there to capture all the night time celebrations. KK & Stacey hired an amazing band called Kings Road who played a lot of hits from the 90’s & 2000’s. Yes, these guys were AWESOME! With the weather dropping in temperature the guests need no further encouragement to dance all night.

Thanks KK & Stacey and their families for such an amazing night.

Tamworth Newborn Photographer- Jarrod & Mel

I get so excited when one of my past wedding couples calls me for a shoot.

Mel & Jarrod were married in Tamworth 5 years ago, Mels home town but returned to QLD after the wedding.

So when Mel contacted me saying they had moved back to Tamworth & they had their second daughter I was stoked to catchup & meet the newest members of the family.

We also chose Mel’s family farm at the top of Moonbi’s for their shoot. We also did their engagement shoot their. This location is stunning. Australian bush, long grass, textured boulders & gorgeous sunsets. This was a gorgeous place.

I also suggested to Mel if her mum & dad & brothers wanted a few shots, why not come up for 10 minutes for a few.

Mel & Jarrod’s oldest Charlotte is one gorgeous kid, with personality plus that she had me in stitches all afternoon.

Little Olivia was the perfect baby, sleeping through most of the shoot.

It was so lovely to see you Mel & Jarrod & to see a couple still the same happy, cruisey, friendly & in love, the couple you were at your wedding.

Thanks again xx

Cheers Karissa

Tamworth Newborn Family Portrait-Sean & Karen

Most of my newborn shoots I do now are outdoors where the light is natural, where older siblings can run around & play as we photograph the newest member of the family.
This is exactly what Karen & Shaun wanted for their family portrait. They love the outdoors & so do their kids.

Really close friends of theirs James & Sandra have the most gorggeous farm just outside of Tamworth in the hills. So after a 4WD to the top I was met by this incredible location. One of the best I have ever seen.
Rolling hills, gorgeous light, an amazing timber shack & oodles of room for the kids to run around.
Yes the perfect spot for a newborn shoot.

So here are a few of my favourite images from that day.
Thankyou so much for such a great afternoon & meeting the newest member of your family.

Phnom Penh Portrait Photography- Yuki & Kylie Cute Couple Shoot

Kylie & Yuki – Couple Shoot Phnom Penh, Cambodia

What do you do when one of your great mates moves away to the countryside of Siem Reap? You of course do a couple shoot to say goodbye.

My hubby & I have known Kylie & Yuki for a few years now & just adore these guys.

We will miss them greatly but know they are moving onto bigger, better adventures.

After we first met Kylie & Yuki they said that they actually never had a proper photographer for their wedding. They had never had professional shoot. So I knew one day we would make this happen.

Locations spotting

So of course down to the last week before they left Phnom Penh we squeezed in a shoot. They didn’t know where they wanted their shoot so I went on the scout. Cambodia has so many fabulous locations, but thinking about traffic, trying to dodge garbage -its a city I found a spot not far from their house. A little field with tiny flowers that would glisten in the sun & then a second location just a bare paddock with some gorgeous grass, textures & a place to  to capture the sunset.

Thanks guys for trusting me & having so much fun. I had a huge smile as I was editing these pics. Your just such a fun, cute couple.

Cant wait to catch-up with you guys soon in Siem Reap

Quirindi Family Portrait – Tetley Family

This week I travelled to a gorgeous farm just outside of Quirindi to the Tetley Family.

Rikki has been wanting a family portrait for a while now & after seeing a few of her friends on facebook had used me, she managed to get my last spot available before I go back to Cambodia next week.

Will bought this shoot as a present for his wife Rikki, perfect Hubby award!

So as soon as I arrived I went & checked out the farm, with too many amazing locations.

The whole family also has horses so we had a few pics with them as well.

Lisa-Rae & Maddison were such cute, friendly kids who just got involved. Showing me all the great things on the farm. I just love the photos of them hangout around the dam throwing sticks..just what country kids do.

There is too many amazing pics too choose from. So good luck picking a fav Rikki!!

cheers Karissa xx

Uralla Family Portrait – Power Family Portrait

The Power Family have been itching to have their family portrait done for sometime. So last time I was home we organised for next time we came home.

I have known the Power family for year & have been good friends of mine. So when Keana said he family had never had a natural family portrait outside, we set about thinking about locations, & clothing etc.

Gostwyck Church

We chose a few locations, but knew we wanted a few at Gostwyck. Not at the church so much. But the beautiful trees & gorgeous green paddocks. This time of year is just stunning with the white daisies filling the paddock..

Uralla has so many stunning locations, with a few Tamworth families choosing to drive up the hill.

Thanks guys for asking & trusting me with your family portrait.

Your 4 kids, Elijah,  Alana, Bridie, Noah were so easy to shoot. Just love the shots of them running through the fields.

I cant wait till I see your walls in your house with some of these gorgeous pictures lining your walls.

Cheers Karissa xx

Uralla Family Portrait- Mayes Family

Last week was the Mayes’ family portrait. Rowena & Tim are good friends of ours, she messaged me when she found out I was coming back saying they wanted a family portrait to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary.

Rowena  chose the location for her shoot. She said she drives past this spot on Barley Fields Road Uralla every afternoon on her way home from work. The sunset, the old railway house  & the long grass. I agree just stunning!

The boys ( like most males) aren’t fans of photos but after the first few  they got into it. When they had enough & the light was still magical Joely & Rowena & I just played around. Getting some amazing pics!!
