Tamworth Engagement shoot | Brent & Heidi|

Yes it has been a while since I have done a Tamworth Engagement shoot so when I suggested it to Heidi before their wedding next month to get use to the camera & get some gorgeous pics together not in a wedding dress, her & Brent jumped at the chance.

Brent’s family farm is out towards Calala & backs onto King George avenue in Tamworth. This will be the perfect spot for their wedding & was an incredible spot for their engagement pictures.

Brent & Heidi love horses & wanted a few in their shots just incase we didn’t use them for the wedding. So just as the sun was in the perfect spot we started shooting. Then after dealing with a few other horses wanting their pictures done with us too we ditched them & headed off for more locations.

With all this long grass around there is plenty of flies. We did pack the aeroguard but forgot to tell Brent we had it. Brent is a butcher & works at Country capital meats– the flies left Heidi & me alone we totally forgot about Brent….wooops! So I have had to do a little photoshopping!

So Brent & Heidi have too many amazing locations to choose from. As you will see we had long grass next to a river with long horns, puddles & fences for amazing silhouettes at sunset Lucerne, corn…everything…did I mention the silhouetees…WOW!!!yes this is the perfect location for a perfect Tamworth engagement shoot!!!

When I do my engagement shoots I just love it when it feels like your hanging out with friends. It felt this way with Brent & Heidi. I also loved they were up for anything running climbing over fences etc

Thanks guys I really cant wait for your wedding!

Your an a amazing couple & I know your wedding will be so much fun!

cheers Karissa

The Good Gift Co |Holly |Tamworth Business photographer

I have known Holly & Ben ever since I shot their Hunter Valley wedding in 2014. Since then I have photographed the new additions of their boys Alfie & Huxley. So while I have been her Tamworth wedding & family photographer I had never been her Tamworth business photographer.

This shoot was a little different. Holly has always had a eye for design & has incredible style.

She started a little business called The Good Gift Co last year so it wasn’t a shock to me her business took off!

She has made her dream come true after having her two boys she wanted to run a small business from home whilst looking after her kids.

A little while ago I was chatting to Holly about pictures for her Instagram. She does all her own & they look incredible but for her to be in some of the photos it was a bit tricky. Hence where I came in being her Tamworth business photographer.

Please go checkout her website it is just exquisite, from her signature handbags, jewellery & things for the home…

So when I came back this time we organised a small shoot with a good friend of hers Kymmy. Kymmy has twin girls, so along with Holly & her two boys & Holly’s amazing styling we set about on a lifestyle shoot.

Of course in true toddler style one twin fell asleep in the car on the way there so wasn’t in any pics. We set up under an amazing spot under a peppercorn tree, got some fabulous shots but due to the dog eating the cheese platter, a few tired kids & a big black storm brewing in the background we decided to let Ben watch the kids, pack up our picnic & let us girls just play near the house with the storm clouds in the background & be close to the house for a quick get away & hopefully not get struck by lightning in the process!

I am so happy we did!!!! The storm clouds & light is just incredible. As we played on the dirt road out the front of her house in the long grass. The storm got darker & darker but the light got better and better too. Holly & Ben live at such an amazing spot just outside of Tamworth. They have incredible sunsets & incredible storms as you will see. Cant wait for you all to see this!

Thanks again Holly!

McCulloch Family |Tamworth Family Photography |

Liss contacted me late last year wanting a Tamworth family portrait shoot. She had seen a friend of her’s Melissa had a family shoot & wanted the same for her family

When I email & chat to my families I love to know everything about everyone, ages & what photos the mums usually love- they are the ones that usually plan the shoot.

I also love chatting about what everyone will wear or what look they want in their photos. This is so important as you not only want everyone to look great but feel confident in what they are wearing. SO after a few pictures & messages back & forth Liss decided on these outfits for her family. What an eye she has I just loved how they looked in their family photos.

Liss & Matt have three great kids all with their own cute personalities so I wanted to capture these.

Twenty minutes into our shoot a few of the kids were attacked & bitten by green ants. And as most people would know to any small kid this isn’t great. So after lots of tears & a few great snuggle shots with mum we decided to finish the shoot & finish another day. I want all families to love their photos & when something like this happens very rarely can you recover or get your child as his normal happy self. So I think its so important with something like this to offer this at no extra charge.

A few days later we moved spots & met at Matt’s parents family farm for a few more shots. This place was incredible with endless paddocks of green grass surrounded by hills made the perfect backdrop.

Thanks again guys

Watson Family | Family Portrait |Wallabadah

Being in business for over 15 years as a photographer in the Tamworth area definitely has its perks. I get to meet amazing couples for their engagement shoots, then their wedding, & then the babies.

This is the case with Matt & Ellen. They have been married 9 years & three babies later I still love catching up & sharing/photographing in all their big moments in their life together.

In October last year I did their maternity/family portrait for baby number 3. I just adored this shoot. A family of five in the paddock at home. Kids & horses & an amazing sunset. So fast forward to nearly a year later baby number 3, Meg is nearly a year old.

Matt & Ellen always have a family shoot for every new member of the family. Matt & Ellen choose to not have a newborn shoot but when bub is a little older. They do this as you can see their little personality shine through. Whilst I love newborns shoots I agree & as you will see with these photos, Megs personality & her relationship with her brother & sister shines through.

I had such a beautiful time, as usual catching up with Rosie, Roy & little Meg. They are the most hilarious, down-to-earth, well mannered kids. Thanks Ellen & Matt for being such great parents & such great people.

cant wait till we meet again.

cheers Karissa

Doherty Family | Family Portraits |Tamworth NSW

My first shoot since returning from Cambodia was the Doherty family, Andrew, Nicole, Zoe & Jackson.

I first met Nicole & Andrew when she was pregnant with Zoe. The location for the pregnancy shoot was The Doherty families farm at Loomberah, just outside of Tamworth.

I just love catching up with families again to see how they have changed & see how the kids have grown.

The farm was a little different this time with the drought. Though green paddocks are beautiful & make amazing photographs I also love photographing when the paddocks are like this. I guess you can see beauty in anything.

At the Doherty family farm near Tamworth we had the perfect family portrait setting of green by the creek & dusty paddocks, the best of both worlds.

Nicole & Andrew also wanted to have a few photos with Andrew’s mum & dad to make it extra special.

We also organised a few shots a few days later when they had all the kids & grandkids home.

It was so lovely catching up again. Thanks again

cheers Karissa

Sarah & Michel’s Wedding |Goonoo Goonoo Station|Tamworth Wedding Photography

Goonoo Goonoo Station

on the back wall of the wool shed a couple silhouette

Sunday of the long weekend was Sarah & Michel’s wedding at the spectacular Goonoo Goonoo Station. As you will see by the amazing photographs below this wedding was just amazing.

Goonoo Goonoo Station is located on the outskirts of Tamworth. This place is made for weddings. Heritage buildings, Incredible food, amazing reception room & a destination get away where you can spend the weekends with your guests. It also has endless photo locations.

What also makes this place outstanding is the staff & function coordinator, Andrea. Their service at Goonoo Goonoo is perfect. They go above and beyond to give you the perfect country Tamworth wedding.

Michel & Sarah met years ago in a chance meeting over breakfast in Fiji. Michel is from the Netherlands & Sarah a country girl from Australia.

So Michel moved over here to be closer to Sarah & the rest is history. Sarah had her mum, Sue help with a lot of the planning & décor for their wedding. She did an incredible job & thought of everything. The décor was just Sarah & her love for horses shone through.

Fireworks

Perfect Kiss for a fireworks shot at Goonoo Goonoo Station as fire works crack in front of them
A kiss at your wedding with fireworks!!! Perfection!!

As a surprise gift Sue organised fireworks for the reception. This just topped off their night. We bought all the guests out for a “guest photo” & as we started taking photographs the fireworks started! it looked just magical against a beautiful Tamworth night sky.

I just adore weddings like these. You actually feel more like a guest than a photographer. Sarah, Michel & their families & their guests were all just so friendly, relaxed & who were there to celebrate & witness two people, from two amazing families marry the person of their dreams. Yes this wedding had me leaving with a smile on my face & goosebumps.

Thank you again for asking me to photograph this perfect day!!

Sarah & Michel chose some amazing people to help make their day perfect.

Their ceremony was officiated by Vanessa Dobson, who is always so easy to work with. She’s bubbly, friendly, professional, gets your guests involved & disappears for “the kiss”. ( trust me a lot of celebrants don’t). She also loves an unplugged wedding which I am always a fan of!! Thanks again Vanessa it is always a great catching up again!

Reception

At Sarah & Michel’s reception I loved their idea of doing their bridal waltz as soon as they entered. With Dj Will’s amazing skills they had everyone on the dance floor which set the stage for the great party later on. If your looking for Tamworth’s best DJ please go with Will. He reads the crowd & always plays the best music!

Sarah & Michel’s MC for the night, Jeremy Roberts was perfect! Sue ( Sarah’s mother) mentioned how amazing these two boys were & they actually do this professionally. Yes one of the best MC’s I have witnessed…Thanks again

Another behind the scenes moment I loved was the staff of Goonoo Goonoo. They were all so interested in the guests but also commented how beautiful this wedding was. They noticed the guests, the families & the couple and loved the fact that it was a caring, intimate wedding. I think this speaks volume not only about Sarah & Michel but about the reception place- Goonoo Goonoo. To them it was not just another weekend, another wedding, another couple they were able to see little differences & help be part of that atmosphere.

Thank you again Michel & Sarah for choosing me to photograph your wedding. You are such a beautiful couple!!

Tamworth Realistic Family Photography -Emily & Campbell

Emily & Campbell Realistic photoshoot at home.

A few weeks back whilst in Australia I received message from Emily asking for a shoot. She seen I was back from Cambodia & knew she wanted a family shoot.

I met Emily & Campbell years ago when they were just engaged. They came to Uralla for a shoot & from that time I have photographed them & two of their newborn babies. I then left for Cambodia. Since that time they had 2 more gorgeous kids.
When Emily called me she said no more new babies but she wanted to capture the realities of having a family of 4 as well as capturing the kids in the home, all her children came home to after being born.
Emily & Campbell’s home is near Dungowan that has a hilltop view that overlooks a spectacular valley. It also has amazing sunsets from up there.
Following a crazy shoot in mum & dads bed which is what most families do on a lazy Sunday, down the stairs on the realities of trying to get everyone out the door but never on time, we headed out to the top of hills to also capture what living in the country with kids is like.

Designer clothes – That showed them as a family

When we ventured outside Emily & her family were dressed in Robyn Ru- Spunky Bruiser
I just adored catching up with Emily & Campbell again but also seeing how her kids have grown & their individual personalities.
Thanks again. I do hope we catchup again!

Tamworth Newborn/family photography -Ben & Holly, Alfie & Huxley

I’ve known Holly & Ben since they were married nearly five years ago in The hunter Valley. Since then we have kept in contact & have been one of my favourite families to photograph. Since their wedding they have had two gorgeous boys, Alfie & Huxley.
Huxley was born in February so when Huxley was 5 weeks we organised a  newborn shoot.

So many photographers say newborn shoots have to happen in their first 3 weeks. I tend to disagree with this with the style of my newborn photography shoots. Bub is always fully clothed, wrapped & warm. So if bub isn’t sleepy they are usually content & not crying. If bub is a few weeks older they usually have a little more head strength too. So my newborn shoots are always less stressful & mum & dad are also less stressed. Yes most of the time my newborn shoots are outside with natural light & I just simply love it! As you will see by this shoot.
I just love catching up with my families to capture their memories & big milestones in their life.
Ben & Holly live out towards Duri on their family farm which is the perfect backdrop for a shoot. Sentimental & amazing shoots. Despite being in one of the worse droughts, bare paddocks looked amazing in the photos.
That day we had a cracker of a sunset which you will see below. The kids had enough by that stage but I stuck around to just watch the amazing sunset.
Can’t wait to photograph the boys together when their running around together.
Loved catching up with you both xx

Tamworth Newborn Photographer- Jarrod & Mel

I get so excited when one of my past wedding couples calls me for a shoot.

Mel & Jarrod were married in Tamworth 5 years ago, Mels home town but returned to QLD after the wedding.

So when Mel contacted me saying they had moved back to Tamworth & they had their second daughter I was stoked to catchup & meet the newest members of the family.

We also chose Mel’s family farm at the top of Moonbi’s for their shoot. We also did their engagement shoot their. This location is stunning. Australian bush, long grass, textured boulders & gorgeous sunsets. This was a gorgeous place.

I also suggested to Mel if her mum & dad & brothers wanted a few shots, why not come up for 10 minutes for a few.

Mel & Jarrod’s oldest Charlotte is one gorgeous kid, with personality plus that she had me in stitches all afternoon.

Little Olivia was the perfect baby, sleeping through most of the shoot.

It was so lovely to see you Mel & Jarrod & to see a couple still the same happy, cruisey, friendly & in love, the couple you were at your wedding.

Thanks again xx

Cheers Karissa

Tamworth Engagement Photography- Joel & Jasmine

A few weeks ago I caught up with Joel & Jasmine to photograph their engagement/baby bump.

Ive known Jasmine for many years, I even photographed Jasmine two other boys when they were just babies.

It amazing how people lives change & turn out- for Jasmine the better when she met Joel. It is so nice Jasmine has found someone who just adores her, but that she will be marrying her best-friend. When I photographed these two I just could feel their connection, love & respect they had for each other.

Jasmine & Joel were happy to let me choose a location close to town in Tamowrth. So with the perfect couple, perfect location & perfect light I knew this shoot would be amazing!!

Thanks guys for such a great afternoon. All the best with the new bub next year!! Hope you love your pics!

Cheers Karissa xx
